Château de Bagatelle Wedding Inspiration

An espresso martini editorial in Dordogne

Set at Château de Bagatelle in Dordogne, this editorial was imagined as a contemporary and refined wedding celebration inspired by the world of the Espresso Martini.

The concept, planning and overall creative direction were developed by Éternelle Wedding and Agellos Event, who envisioned the shoot as a complete wedding experience, with each moment connected through a consistent palette, carefully chosen textures and a strong sense of atmosphere.

Rather than turning the Espresso Martini into a literal theme, the inspiration was translated in a more subtle way. Shades of brown, cream and beige referenced coffee and chocolate, while silk, lace, florals and decorative details added softness and richness to the overall design.

The result was a wedding editorial that felt modern, warm and elegant, with a balance between contemporary styling and more timeless influences.

Wedding details and couple portraits
at Château de Bagatelle

The day began with a few quiet bridal moments and carefully styled details.

Flatlays brought together some of the smaller elements of the wedding story, while the bride was photographed in her robe and during her makeup preparations.

These intimate images naturally led into the couple portraits, which explored two different visual approaches.

Inside Château de Bagatelle, the photographs were more composed and editorial. The interiors created the perfect backdrop for portraits with a modern and classic feel, playing with posture, architecture and more structured compositions.

Outside, the energy shifted.

The photographs became more spontaneous, with movement and interaction at the centre of the images. Walking and laughing  created a more fluid and lively feel.

A modern ceremony with vintage details

The ceremony design had a distinctly modern feel, built around a rich brown draped backdrop that brought depth and structure to the setting.

Vintage-inspired lace details softened the composition and introduced a more delicate texture, while generous floral arrangements added volume and an organic quality to the scene.

The contrast between the contemporary draping, the lace and the abundance of flowers created a ceremony setting that felt layered and visually strong.

Rather than following a traditionally romantic aesthetic, the ceremony reflected the overall direction of the editorial: modern, refined and slightly unexpected, with subtle vintage references woven into the design.

Signature cocktails by the pool

The poolside cocktail moment brought a more joyful and social energy to the shoot.

Lyquid bartender created signature cocktails for the occasion, adding a more interactive and celebratory dimension to this part of the day.

An espresso martini inspired wedding table

The dinner table was one of the central elements of the editorial.

Designed as part of the overall vision, the tablescape explored the Espresso Martini inspiration through color, texture and carefully chosen details.

Brown, cream and beige tones formed the foundation of the design, with coffee and chocolate influences appearing in a subtle and refined way.

Textiles, flowers and decorative elements added depth to the table, creating a composition that felt generous without becoming overly formal.

The seating plan was also designed as an integral part of the styling, extending the visual identity of the table and helping create a sense of continuity throughout the reception setup.

The final result felt warm, sophisticated and contemporary, with the Espresso Martini inspiration present without ever becoming too literal.

A contemporary wedding cake

The wedding cake introduced another modern element into the editorial.

With its clean lines and contemporary design, it stood out beautifully against the more traditional architecture of Château de Bagatelle.

Placed in front of the château, the cake became a strong visual feature and created a contrast between classic surroundings and modern wedding styling.

Espresso martinis in the evening

As the day moved into the evening, the Espresso Martini inspiration became more direct.

The cocktails brought together the colour palette and concept of the shoot in a natural way, with their deep coffee tones echoing the browns and warm neutrals used throughout the styling.

This final part of the day had a more relaxed and celebratory energy.

It felt like a natural conclusion to the editorial: sophisticated, contemporary and playful, while still remaining consistent with the atmosphere created throughout the shoot.

Photographing the editorial on film

Alongside the digital photographs, I also chose to capture part of the editorial on 35 mm analogue film.

Film brings a different feeling to a wedding story.

The natural grain, softer rendering and slightly more organic quality of the images create a sense of texture that works particularly well with details, fabrics, skin tones and warm neutral colours.

Château de bagatelle wedding photography in Dordogne

This editorial was created as a vision of what a modern wedding at Château de Bagatelle could feel like: elegant without being overly traditional, carefully designed without feeling rigid, and full of contrasts between classic influences and contemporary details.

For me as a wedding photographer in Dordogne, the shoot was also an opportunity to explore different photographic approaches within the same setting, from editorial portraits indoors to more spontaneous and movement-led images outside.

If you are planning a Château de Bagatelle wedding and are looking for a wedding photographer in Dordogne, I would be delighted to photograph your celebration with an approach that combines refined portraits, natural movement and both digital and film photography.
